Help, minus the runaround.
Draftpad is small on purpose, so most questions have short answers. Here are the ones that come up — and a direct line if yours isn't among them.
The usual six
Does Draftpad save my text automatically?
Yes. Text is saved locally in your browser as you type. Clearing browser data or using private browsing will remove saved drafts, so export anything you need to keep.
Can I use Draftpad offline?
Yes. After your first visit, install Draftpad as an app for offline access — look for the install option in your browser's menu or in Settings.
How do I switch between light and dark mode?
Use the theme button in the top-right corner. It cycles between light, dark, and matching your system, and your choice is remembered.
How do platform limits work?
Pick a platform preset — Twitter, LinkedIn, and the rest — to see how your text fits its character limit. The progress indicator updates live and changes colour as you near or pass the limit.
Can I export my drafts?
Yes. Use Export to save your text as plain text, Markdown, HTML, PDF, or JSON.
Where is my data stored?
Entirely in your browser's local storage — nothing goes to a server. That keeps your drafts private, but also ties them to the browser and device you're on.
When something's off
My text disappeared
This usually means browser storage was cleared. Because Draftpad keeps everything locally and never syncs to a server, cleared data can't be recovered — so export important drafts regularly.
Offline mode isn't working
Make sure Draftpad is installed as an app via your browser's install prompt or Settings. Offline needs a modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox.
Export buttons aren't responding
This is usually a clipboard-permission block. Reload the page, or grant clipboard access when your browser asks.
Markdown preview looks wrong
Draftpad renders Markdown with marked.js. Check your syntax — some advanced or non-standard Markdown may render differently than you expect.
Settings or theme changes aren't saving
Check that local storage is enabled — some privacy settings or extensions block it. And confirm you're not in private or incognito mode.
