Common Questions

Does Draftpad save my text automatically?

Yes. Text is saved locally in your browser using local storage. Changes are preserved automatically as you type. Clearing browser data or using private browsing will remove saved drafts.

Can I use Draftpad offline?

Yes. After your first visit, Draftpad can be installed as a Progressive Web App for offline access. Look for the install option in your browser's menu or in the Settings panel.

How do I switch between light and dark mode?

Use the theme toggle in the top-right corner. Your preference is saved automatically.

How do platform limits work?

Select a platform preset (such as Twitter or LinkedIn) from the sidebar to see how your text fits within that platform's character limit. The progress indicator updates in real time and changes color as you approach or exceed the limit.

Can I export my drafts?

Yes. Use the Export button in the sidebar to save your text as plain text, Markdown, HTML, or JSON.

Where is my data stored?

All text and settings are stored locally in your browser. Nothing is sent to external servers. This means your drafts are private, but also tied to the browser and device you're using.

Troubleshooting

My text disappeared

This typically happens when browser storage is cleared. Since Draftpad stores everything locally and doesn't sync to external servers, cleared data cannot be recovered. To prevent this, export important drafts regularly.

Offline mode isn't working

Ensure Draftpad is installed as a PWA through your browser's install prompt or the Settings panel. Offline functionality requires a modern browser like Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox.

Export buttons aren't responding

This may be due to clipboard permission restrictions. Try reloading the page or granting clipboard access when prompted by your browser.

Markdown preview looks incorrect

Draftpad uses marked.js to render Markdown. Verify your syntax is correct. Some advanced or non-standard Markdown features may render differently than expected.

Settings or theme changes aren't saving

Check that local storage is enabled in your browser. Some privacy settings or extensions may block local storage. Also verify you're not in private/incognito mode.
